OUR CURRENT FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

Quilliam College, Liverpool

3-18 School

The Regenerative Education Foundation is proud to support the launch of its founding school Quilliam College in Liverpool—our flagship regenerative project. The school has already secured a long-term lease and represents the first step in building a new generation of regenerative educational institutions.

The vision of Quilliam College is to provide the best integrated and holistic British Muslim education in the world.

Its mission is to be a school of harmony and excellence, balancing traditional Islamic and British values through strategic co-curricular partnerships that cultivate leadership, scholarship, craftsmanship and citizenship in the next and future generations. The quest for oneness, truth, beauty and goodness infuses its ethos, pedagogy, curriculum and learner outcomes, dedicated to local and global spiritual and sustainable development, in continuity with the educational vision of Abdullah Quilliam founder of Britain’s first mosque 1887 and first Muslim school 1891.

Quilliam College is located on a 1.5-acre historic site—the former St Margaret’s of Antioch Church of England school. The lease for this property has also been secured, and £3 million is required for site development and acquisition. It is currently undergoing registration with the UK Department for Education, with formal approval expected by September 2026.

This 3-18 pioneering school is just the beginning. We invite forward-thinking donors to join us in shaping the future of regenerative education. To learn more about how you can support this transformative initiative and other projects, please contact the Principal of Quilliam College directly.

To avoid any confusion, please note that Quilliam College is not part of the Abdullah Quilliam Society, is not operated by or involved in the operation of any mosques and is wholly dedicated to advancing education on a charitable basis.

OUR CHARITABLE OBJECTS

  • Providing and assisting in the provision of facilities, resources, and opportunities for learning that are not ordinarily provided by the state, or which complement those provided by the state, to enhance educational outcomes for individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

About Regenerative Education

Regenerative education is a transformative approach to renewing traditional values, developing future-proof capabilities, cultivating responsible global citizens, healing and restoring the vitality of our planet and communities.

Goals of Regenerative Education

  1. Renewing traditional values: cultivating the quest for oneness, truth, beauty and goodness in the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of young people
  2. Develop future-proof capabilities: equipping young people with the skills needed to navigate a complex and interconnected world for the next and future generations.
  3. Cultivate responsible global citizens: inspiring a sense of responsibility and empowering individuals to be active agents of transformation for a more just and sustainable future rooted in their bioregion.
  4. Heal and restore: moving beyond simply minimizing negative impacts to actively contributing to the vitality and resilience of our planet and communities.

Principles of Regenerative Education

  1. Connection to Self, Others, and Nature: we emphasise fostering a strong connection with one’s own strengths, values, and passions; building collaborative and empathetic relationships with others; and recognizing that humans are deeply embedded within nature, fostering a sense of stewardship.
  2. Fostering Stewardship: by connecting with a place, learners develop a sense of belonging, responsibility, and care for the specific environment in which we live.
  3. Holistic and Restorative: regenerative education embraces student well-being, environmental stewardship, and community engagement, striving to create learning environments where students grow harmoniously with nature and society.
  4. Place-Based Learning: learning is deeply rooted in the local environment, culture, and challenges, making it relevant and meaningful. This fosters a sense of belonging and responsibility to our life-place, the bioregion we inhabit that often centres on shared river basins such as the Mersey watershed that includes Liverpool and Greater Manchester city regions.\
  5. Integration of World Wisdom: we recognize and value global traditional wisdom and sustainable practices from indigenous communities, integrating them into curricula to create more holistic and culturally relevant learning models.
  6. Systems Thinking: we encourage learners to see the big picture and understand how different parts of a system interact and influence each other, moving beyond siloed subject areas. This includes understanding ecological systems and their dynamics.
  7. Futures-Oriented and Action-Oriented: we do not just seek to understand problems but develop solutions. Regeneration encourages learners to envision desirable futures, develop agency, and take action to create positive change that addresses the environmental, social, and economic challenges unique to place.
  8. Interdisciplinary Integration: we move beyond traditional subject silos, creating learning experiences that integrate knowledge from diverse fields, mirroring the interconnectedness of real-world systems.
  9. Experiential and Participatory Learning: we value hands-on activities, outdoor learning, community service, and collaborative projects, recognizing that knowledge is not just cognitive but also spiritual and physical.
  10. Empowering and Adaptive: we aim to unlock the unique potential of each individual, fostering resilience and adaptability in response to evolving contexts. Regenerative education moves away from passive learning to student-led innovation, proactive family learning and cohesive community education.
